The post-election crisis in Cote d’Ivoire in 2011 resulted in a widespread repression against people devoted to the cause of ex- President Laurent Gbagbo by the Ivorian new authorities. For the last four years, this repression led to a procession of arrests, tortures, disappearances, and unprecedented killings of eminent persons, elements of the regular defence and security forces, adults as well as many young people referring to the former regime or known as pro-Gbagbo.
The survivors, for the greater part detained in numerous prisons in Abidjan and elsewhere in the country, are generally accused of plotting a coup against the State, on various charges. This report aims to make an illustrated summary of the situation of political prisoners in Cote d’Ivoire by august 4, 2015.
